Evaluative/Therapeutic procedures:

At the New York Center for Vulvovaginal Disorders  we take pride in being on the cutting edge of developments in diagnosing and treating vulvovaginal pain, and vulvovaginal disease, and the treatment of female sexual dysfunction. We combine proven research based clinical technology with our in depth clinical experience to develop an individualized treatment program for each of our patients. Along with our in-house expertise we are able to refer to consultants in related subspecialty areas including dermatology, neurology, urology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, physical medicine, sex therapy, gynecological acupuncture and physical therapy. Data on all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are collected as part of our continuing research efforts. All patients will undergo an initial evaluation including our Pelvic Floor Muscle Assessment. Evaluation results are integrated and used to derive an individualized treatment regimen.

Pelvic Floor Muscle Assessment: Surface electromyography is employed to assess the status of the pelvic floor muscles. The "Glazer Evaluation Protocol" has demonstrated 88% accuracy in diagnosing essential vulvar pain disorders. Based on the results of this procedure patients may be offered the rehabilitative pelvic floor muscle protocol as a part of their integrated treatment program.
