Conditions

idiopathic vulvodynia, dermatoses, chronic vulvitis, dyspareunia, vulvar dystrophies, HPV vulvitis, lichen sclerosis, vulvar hyperplasia, vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia

Interventions

After adequate diagnostic evaluation my first order of treatment is pharmacologic with surgical intervention saved for resistant cases.

Training

In addition to clinical practice in this area for eight years, I've attended two seminars directed towards the diagnosis and therapy of vulvodynia and vulvar pain through the International Society for the Study of Vulvar Disease.

Essay

Detailed history and examination leading to the selection of vulvar colposcopy, selected biopsy, culture and other relevant diagnostic evaluation to choose the correct approach to the four main diagnostic possibilities that result in vulvodynia. Narrowing the diagnosis in this fashion leads to the selection of appropriate intervention rather than a "shotgun" approach to treatment, which we see too often.
