Conditions

vaginismus, vuvodynia secondary to any organic condition.

Interventions

use of vaginal dilators in graduated sizes, treatment of anxiety and sexual avoidance secondary to the vulvodynia with supportive treatment involvement of the partner in the treatment, when appropriate, referral for medication if indicated.

Training

I have worked over thirty years in the field.I trained with Dr. Helen Singer Kaplan. Subsequently I have worked with Dr. Gae Rodke who is a gynecologist specializing in diseases of the vulva and clitoris. I have attended ISSWSH conferences on the treatment of vulvar disease and I have collaborated with many other gynecologists on the treatment of vulvodynia.

Essay

I am an AASECT certified sex therapist with extensive experience treating vulvodynia, vaginismus and female sexuality. In my practice, I service the greater New York area and I am sensitive to the anxiety induced by vulvodynia and to working with it in a steady effective way. I work with women directly on the issue teaching effective ways to circumvent pain and to enhance pleasure, and ultimately to have comfortable enjoyable sex again. I recommend the use of graduated size dilators along with supportive work with the woman and her partner, when indicated. I have excellent results with these patients
